Operation, Maintenance, and Care of Spray-Type Sterilization Autoclaves

The design and manufacture of spray-type sterilization kettles shall comply with the relevant codes, standards, and inspection criteria; the Steel Pressure Vessels and the Safety Technical Supervision Regulations for Pressure Vessels shall be applied in their fabrication, inspection, and acceptance.

  1. Spray-type Sterilization kettle The codes, standards, and inspection criteria followed in the design and manufacture are: the Steel Pressure Vessels Code and the Safety Technical Supervision Regulations for Pressure Vessels, which apply to manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance.


  2. Users shall, in accordance with their organization’s sterilization conditions and the technical specifications of the sterilizer, establish safety operating procedures for the sterilizer and strictly adhere to them. The safety operating procedures for spray‑type autoclaves shall include at least the following:


  (1) Operating process parameters of the spray-type sterilization kettle, as well as its maximum operating pressure and temperature.


  (2) Operating procedures, steps, and precautions for the sterilizer.

  (3) During production and operation, the items and locations to be inspected, as well as potential abnormal conditions that may arise during operation and the corresponding preventive measures, shall be identified.


  (4) Maintenance procedures for equipment when it is out of service.


  3. Operation of this equipment under conditions exceeding its design pressure and temperature is prohibited.


  4. Operators of spray-type sterilization kettles shall undergo training and pass the assessment, and must strictly adhere to safety operating procedures and the job responsibility system; any abnormal conditions must be addressed promptly.


  5. The spray-type sterilization kettle is equipped with safety valves, pressure gauges, thermometers, and other accessories, which shall be safe, complete, responsive, and reliable. During operation, it shall undergo routine maintenance and periodic inspections.


  6. Autoclaves shall be inspected regularly: at least once every six months for external inspections and at least once annually for comprehensive inspections. Preparatory procedures and inspection items shall be carried out in accordance with the Regulations and relevant provisions, and inspection reports shall be filed and archived.


  7. During operation, regularly apply grease and machine oil to sliding and rolling contact areas such as the tilting self-locking wedge, rollers, tank lugs, and the flange of the rotating ring to ensure that the friction surfaces remain properly lubricated.


  8. If the sealing ring on the flange of the kettle body is aged, damaged, or excessively worn, it should be replaced promptly to ensure a tight seal and prevent leaks.


  9. When spray-type Sterilization kettle When the equipment is out of service, the interior and exterior surfaces of the sterilizer, as well as its lid, shall be cleaned. Exposed surfaces shall be coated with anti-rust paint, and safety‑related monitoring and control instruments shall be sealed and protected.
