Food sterilization equipment How do you operate a sterilization pot?
When operating a food sterilization retort, it is important to follow certain procedural guidelines. Proper operation enables businesses to produce more efficiently and promptly, while minimizing losses or damages caused by improper handling.
(1) Operating parameters of the food sterilization equipment, including operating pressure and operating temperature.
(2) Operator procedures, protocols, and precautions.
(3) During production and operations, it is necessary to inspect the relevant projects and areas, identify potential abnormal conditions that may arise during operation, and implement preventive measures.
(4) Mechanical maintenance procedures when food sterilization equipment is out of service.

1. Operators must undergo training and pass examinations, strictly adhere to operating procedures and the job responsibility system, and promptly address any abnormalities that arise. The equipment is equipped with auxiliary instruments such as pressure gauges and thermometers, which must be sensitive and reliable. During operation, the food sterilization equipment requires regular maintenance and periodic verification. The device’s set‑point pressure must match its design pressure; it should be responsive and dependable, and random adjustments must be prevented. Both pressure gauges and thermometers are rated at Class 1.5, and deviations within the specified tolerance limits are considered normal. Lead‑free sealed pressure gauges must not be used, and any malfunctioning gauge should be replaced immediately. Thermometers must be inspected regularly; prior to use, they should be verified against a standard thermometer. Once per year, a calibration check is required; if the sensing element is fractured or the deviation from the standard exceeds 0.5°C, the instrument must be repaired or replaced.
2. Food sterilization equipment shall be inspected regularly: external inspections shall be conducted at least once every six months, and comprehensive inspections at least once a year. Pre‑inspection preparations and inspection items shall comply with applicable regulations, and inspection reports shall be duly documented.
3. During operation of food sterilization equipment, lubricating grease and oil should be regularly applied to sliding and rolling contact areas, such as inclined self-locking wedges, wheels, pot ears, and rotating ring flanges, to ensure that friction surfaces remain well-lubricated.
4. After the food sterilization equipment is taken out of service, both the inner and outer surfaces of the lid should be thoroughly cleaned. The exposed machined surfaces should be coated with anti-rust paint, and a protective film should be applied using an induction‑controlled coating machine.
It is primarily used in the food industry. In sectors such as pharmaceuticals, it is characterized by a large heating surface area, high thermal efficiency, uniform heating, short liquid boiling times, and easy temperature control, which is why it is widely employed.
Food Sterilization Equipment: What are the precautions for operating a sterilization kettle?
1. Install the thermometer, paying attention to its distance, scale, and mounting position.
2. An automatic temperature recorder is required, as manufacturers often omit its installation to cut costs.
3. When water is present, install a water circulation system and mount a flow meter on the circulation pipeline to indicate a stable flow rate.
4. There are requirements regarding the pipe dimensions and piping layout of food sterilization equipment.
5. Regular inspections are required. Food sterilization equipment . External inspections shall be conducted at least once every six months, and internal inspections at least once a year. Pre‑inspection preparations and inspection items shall comply with applicable regulations, and inspection reports shall be duly documented.
